Ah... I really, really suck at doing these things because I have an innate aversion to talking about myself, but here goes:
I am skittish by nature, not terribly talkative at all, but I am not shy in the least. Occasionally I am overcome with the urge to babble at great length about nothing in particular and therein drive others up the wall wondering what the hell it is I'm going on about this time. I think it may be a byproduct of not saying anything much for sometimes days on end and it all catches up with me in an explosion of verbal vomit.
I like to write and have been doing so since I was in the third grade. I still remember the name of my first story: My Pesky Pink Panther, Pete. Go alliteration! I like to think I am fairly decent at what I do, though I try not to delude myself into thinking I am great or anything of the like. People who are convinced of their own greatness annoy me and come off looking like pretentious boogersnots and tend to be nowhere near as good as they believe themselves to be. Just saying.
I do tend to be opinionated and while I may not say anything (usually because there's not much point in the grand scheme of things) don't doubt for an instant that I don't have ::ahem:: thoughts on any particular topic.
My sense of humor is not for everyone and I am afraid it doesn't often translate well onto the computer screen. I'm sarcastic and rather dry... but I also have been known to take a swim in the deep waters of totally absurd and let my imagination run away with me and in turn, end up with these terribly convoluted stories that have peoples' eyebrows making a valiant climb for their hairline. Another aspect of my sense of humor--and personality in general--is my irreverence which may offend some people. With me nothing is sacred and I will (and do) poke at things with my Big Pointy Stick and in turn, have been known to massively offend people on occasion, particularly Christians. I am of a mind that people take way too much shit way too seriously.
I drink a fair amount (read: probably more than is socially acceptable), smoke like a freight train and have a mouth filthy enough that I could make a sailor blush. I am totally unrepentant about all of the above. I love music and am a completely hopeless audiophile. Nothing is safe from my itchy download finger, be it German Industrial to Veggie Lesbo Music, chances are, I've got--and enjoy--a few tracks. My favorite bands are 30 Seconds to Mars, Grant Lee Buffalo, Rammstein, Matthew Good/Matthew Good Band, Rise Against, Avenged Sevenfold, Leonard Cohen, old Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Porcelain and the Tramps... etc. I have been known to musicspam/do fanmixes on occasion.
I read a LOT, like... I am a complete bookworm and will hurl quotes around like there's no tomorrow (yeah, I'm one of those annoying assholes). Favorite authors and poets include, but are not limited to: Rainer Maria Rilke, T.S. Eliot, Kurt Vonnegut, Stephen King, Chuck Palahniuk, Charles Bukowski, Marquis de Sade, old Dean Koontz, Franz Kafka, Charles Baudelaire, Jim Morrison, etc.
I've had this journal for a while, but didn't really know what to do with it until recently. I do have a couple other journals here on LJ that I use for other things, one for a fandom, one for personal uses to archive my original writing. Since I am currently avoiding my other fandom like a plague--at least the snotty little shitheads in it that call themselves writers and feel the need to wank at great length on said subject, this is the one where you're most likely to find me and need not worry about the other two. Supernatural fandom has been unbelievably kind to me so far and I am very much enjoying myself and having fun participating with you guys. Makes me wonder why I've been lurking around for so long and not tossing my two cents into the kinky well.
My friending policy on this journal is very open: Friend and I will friend you back. A "hello" is always appreciated, but not necessary at all.
I think that about covers it. Feel free to root around here all you want. There's not a lot yet, but I hope to change that and am making good headway in that direction. :D
Now read:
"Scherazade"
Tell me about the dream where we pull the bodies out of the lake
and dress them in warm clothes again.
How it was late, and no one could sleep, the horses running
until they forgot they are horses.
It’s not like a tree where the roots have to end somewhere,
it’s more like a song on a policeman’s radio,
how we rolled up the carpet so we would dance, and the days
were bright red, and every time we kissed there was another apple
to slice into pieces.
Look at the light through the windowpane. That means it’s noon, that means
We’re inconsolable.
Tell me how all this, and love too, will ruin us.
These, our bodies, possessed by light.
Tell me we’ll never get used to it.
